The Technical Challenge

The client operated a high-volume 150-acre automotive manufacturing facility running 24/7 assembly lines. Legacy Category 5e copper cabling and unmanaged network switches suffered severe electromagnetic interference (EMI) from heavy welding machinery. Periodic network data drops stalled robotic assembly arms, resulting in over 12 hours of costly unplanned factory downtime every month.


Konnet Solution Architecture

Konnet designed and implemented an end-to-end industrial OT network transformation: - Deployed a dual-redundant 40Gbps Single-Mode Fiber Optic Ring backbone interconnecting 8 production shop floors. - Replaced unmanaged switches with IP67-rated DIN-rail industrial managed switches capable of operating in extreme factory heat (up to 75°C). - Implemented Zero-Trust network micro-segmentation separating plant floor SCADA machinery from corporate ERP networks. - Installed 4K thermal inspection IP cameras and IoT environmental telemetry sensors for automated predictive maintenance alerts.

Phase 1: Site Audit & EMI Heatmapping

Conducted comprehensive RF spectrum analysis and electromagnetic interference heatmapping across 8 shop floors to locate high-signal distortion zones.

Phase 2: Redundant Fiber Ring Installation

Laid armored LSZH Single-Mode optical fiber cables in heavy-duty steel conduits, establishing sub-50ms self-healing ring redundancy.

Step 3

Phase 3: Zero-Downtime Hot Cutover

Executed component migration during planned maintenance windows without interrupting active vehicle production lines.

Step 4

Phase 4: 24/7 Telemetry & NOC Integration

Connected all managed industrial switches and thermal cameras into Konnet’s 24/7 proactive Remote Operations Center.
